Correlation of Mental Health and Criminality

Mental problems is very important. The British government promised to increase the variety of catering services for mental health problems. Mental illness is a concern, and raises the usual questions: Is mental illness is increasing or practitioner to detect and report many previously hidden. One begins to suspect that mental fitness is rare and that most people have some mental health problems at one time or another. If this trend continues, the end point will be the reason for any crime in the form of mental condition identified. It seems that there is convergence with the words of Abdul Baha saying that no man is evil or bad, but some are like children and need an education and some sick and need to be healed.

Other contemporary areas of government action is the reform of the prison. Traditionally, the prison is said to serve two purposes: punishment convicted offenders and prevention of potential perpetrators. In modern times, penal reform has come into prominence. The goal is to return prisoners of freedom in conditions where they will not offend again. Education in prison is long established and helped some inmates to reform. It is possible juvenile offenders as Abdul Baha. But many left the prison and immediately returned to a life of crime. Is this the sick to be cured? If they are, they are mental illness.

The danger in this trend of reasoning is to reduce the responsibility of the individual to the vanishing point. If any bad acts can stem mental condition, no one is responsible for the crime. Prison would not be required, and will be replaced by the school for such children and sanatorium for the sick. The legal system currently has a test for insanity and criminals judged to be sane responsible for their actions. Does this approach is now becoming out-dated, and all crime should be viewed as evidence of mental illness?

It is easy to assume mental illness for violent offenders, people who are overcome by rage and attacked with weapons to kill or injure their victims. It is less easy to take the same view of financial fraud. As Balzac observed: Behind every great fortune lies a crime they are. The most intelligent criminals know that if they commit only one crime is detected a very small possibility. But one of the evils in the world of high finance can provide a wealth and security for life, because every Russian oligarch know. Such people seem cold rational at all times, and if they suffer from mental illness, that condition shall be hidden. But as neurologists and psychiatrists continue to peel layer after layer of the mystery of the human brain, no doubt in time they will find Balzac syndrome.
